Almost Random Theatre and Schools.
What ART offers is unique – no other theatre company can offer all our services as one package.
Yvonne Letchford, Head of Drama at Rainham School for Girls:
“The day has been a great success. The students were inspired by the company, who went out of their way to include everyone in the workshop.”
Here are some examples of activities ART has orchestrated at the schools listed below:
- Group work to create a play
- Question/answer session
- Discussion about show reels
- Split the group into smaller groups, create plays then critique
- Rehearsed readings of ART plays
- Motivational talks (a world champion bodybuilder is among the ART staff!)
- Monologues
- Designing publicity posters for plays created
- Design campaign to help homeless
The key throughout has been involvement. We even write plays round the pupils (you supply us with the information beforehand) and then the group performs, script in hand.
Every single visit is solely for the school hiring us. We recycle nothing!
Examples of schools visited:
- Argyll School
- Suffolk School Oxford English centre
- Bridgend school
- British study centre
- Gillingham schools
- Gosport school
- Staffs school
- Leicester school
- Bath school
- Wilberforce college
- Hull school
But ART offers something else !
In addition to running Drama Workshops we also offer revision sessions (AS/A2) in the following subjects:
- Business Studies
- Economics
- Politics
We always take with us at least one qualified, experienced teacher, usually an ex-Examiner and that is why we can offer these revision sessions.
“There were very positive comments and an overwhelming desire to have something similar again. The particular year group really liked the afternoon and felt that the balance was a bit too heavy towards the homeless. I was pleased with how seriously they took the opportunity to feedback and evaluate their experience. The impact was good. Thanks again and hope the next schools go well.”

Tarbert Academy, School Road, Tarbert, Argyll, PA29 6TE
This means that as examinations approach, you can invite to your school to run a drama workshop AND have a revision session on various subjects, for your A Level students. Apart from the obvious versatility that ART offers, offering such a dual service should help you with budget considerations!

Fees:
ART charges only expenses which is 40p a mile, for petrol. There is an additional £50 charged which goes to charity and we ask that this is donated directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society
